Ferrari Roma Spider, timeless elegance
More than three years after the release of the Ferrari Roma (November 13, 2019), the Italian automaker unveiled the convertible version of the Roma model on March 16, 2023: the Ferrari Roma Spider.
Ferrari has modified the Roma’s design, making improvements, notably to the rear window. The modification allows the rear window to fold under the tonneau cover when the roof is open. The tonneau cover is created by a color strip that runs across the base of the roof and separates the active spoiler and the rear window. When the Roma Spider is convertible, the active spoiler in carbon fiber is placed on the rear seat, and the headrests. Additionally, the car’s chassis uses a solution already present on the Portofino M for its rear section.

Lorsque la Roma Spider est décapotée, le spoiler actif en fibre de carbone se place sur la banquette arrière et les appui-têtes. De plus, le châssis de la voiture utilise une solution déjà présente sur la Portofino M pour sa partie arrière.
Soft top roof
The soft top roof, designed with a sophisticated fabric, can be deployed in 13.5 seconds, even when the car is traveling at a maximum speed of 60 km/h.
The Roma Spider retains the four seats of the coupé, offering comfort for a family outing. Ferrari has developed a patented deflector integrated into the backrest of the rear seats and added a 5mm spoiler to the windshield. These improvements have reduced turbulence in the cabin by 30% compared to the Ferrari Portofino M it replaces, according to the Italian manufacturer. These improvements ensure driving convenience, even when the roof is open.
As in the Roma, the driver and passenger each have their own space in the Roma Spider. At the heart of the cabin is an 8.4-inch suspended touchscreen between the dashboard and the central tunnel, providing easy and convenient access to all the vehicle’s functions. The gearbox controls are positioned on a metal plate, within the driver’s reach. With the roof in place, the trunk offers a generous storage volume of 255 liters.
High-performance convertible
The Ferrari Roma Spider measures approximately 4.66 meters in length (the same as the Roma) and weighs 1,556 kilos, 84 kilos more than the Roma coupé model. This should not significantly impact its performance compared to the coupé. It is equipped with the same engine as the coupé, housed under its long hood. This is a 3.9-liter bi-turbo V8 engine developing 620 horsepower for a torque of 760 Nm, coupled with an F1 dual-clutch eight-speed gearbox. According to Ferrari’s data, the Roma Spider can reach 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds and 200 km/h in 9.7 seconds. Its top speed is 320 km/h, the same as the coupé. To improve the vehicle’s grip, the automaker has worked on the positioning of the rear spoiler, which offers three different positions.
Different configurations are possible, notably concerning the color of the soft top fabric, to create a unique car.
The release date of the Ferrari Roma Spider has not been communicated by the brand. Regarding the price, it is still unknown, but we can estimate that it will cost more than €200,000 to own this high-performance and comfortable convertible.
