In the development of the latest 911 Carrera GTS models, Porsche engineers drew from their expertise in motorsport to craft a revolutionary hybrid system. By leveraging racing insights, they’ve engineered a propulsion system that seamlessly integrates with the 911’s ethos while significantly boosting performance.

Innovative hybridization system

The T-Hybrid system, lightweight yet potent, features a groundbreaking electric turbocharger. Positioned between the compressor and turbine wheel, an integrated electric motor enables rapid turbocharger spool-up, delivering immediate boost pressure. This electric motor also acts as a generator, harnessing exhaust gas flow to generate up to 11 kW (15 hp) of electrical power. With a valveless design, this electric turbocharger eliminates the need for two turbochargers, enhancing responsiveness and dynamism.

Electrifying performance enhancements

Introducing electrons into the mix, a 40 kW electric motor is nestled within the 8-speed dual-clutch transmission—the sole transmission option. Paired with a modest 1.9 kWh battery, the weight gain is limited to just 40 kg while power skyrockets to 532 hp, an increase of 59 hp. Acceleration from 0-100 km/h clocks in at 3 seconds, shaving off 0.3 seconds compared to its predecessor.

Standard rear-wheel steering and an optional electrohydraulic roll control system complement the technical prowess of this updated model. Alongside subtle aesthetic tweaks, including more efficient matrix headlights, the 911 Carrera GTS lineup offers unparalleled performance and style. With a starting price of $182,900 for the rear-wheel-drive variant, it’s a fusion of innovation and heritage within reach.
